What the two tags mean

Trusts and estates leans toward planning and structuring: drafting trusts, minimizing estate tax, and setting up how assets pass on. Wills and probate leans toward the court process after someone dies: opening the estate, notifying creditors, and closing it out. An attorney can be strong in both, and many are.

Who sells to estate attorneys

Estate planning document software, e-signature and secure document storage providers, and legal research publishers sell to these attorneys as end users. Trust companies and financial advisors want them as referral partners, since a client who has just updated a trust often needs an advisor to retitle accounts. Life insurance agents, business valuation firms, and appraisers of real estate and personal property also work with estate lawyers regularly.

Referral relationships matter here

Estate planning tends to run on trust and referrals. A financial advisor or CPA who wants to meet attorneys is usually better off asking for a short introductory conversation than pushing a product in the first message. Handle the overlap

Because the two tags overlap, combine them and remove repeats before you send. Match on email and on name plus firm. An attorney who carries both tags is a strong estate practitioner and a good first name on the list.
