Business, Corporate, and Commercial Attorney Lists
The database has three practice area tags that sound almost identical: business law with 9,542 attorneys, corporate law with 8,987, and commercial law with 11,500. Added together they come to 30,029, but that is a count of tags, not people. Plenty of attorneys carry two or all three, so the real number of unique attorneys is lower.
Why the three tags exist
Attorneys describe their work in different ways. One calls it business law, another corporate law, another commercial law, and often they mean much the same thing. Rather than guess which label matters to you, treat them as one broad transactional segment and deduplicate when you combine them.
Who sells to this segment
Incorporation and registered agent services, entity management and corporate records software, compliance and contract management tools, business valuation firms, virtual data room providers, and insurance brokers who place professional liability and directors and officers coverage all sell to attorneys who advise companies. Many of these attorneys also refer clients to accountants, insurance agents, and financial advisors, which makes them useful referral partners for those professionals.
How to avoid double sending
If you export the business, corporate, and commercial segments separately, match them on the email address first and on name plus firm second. Keep one record per attorney and note which tags they carry, since an attorney with all three tags is probably a stronger fit for a transactional product than one with a single tag. Our state by state segmentation guide covers how to layer geography on top.
Pick a message by tag
An attorney tagged only for commercial law may respond to a contract management pitch, while one tagged for corporate law may care more about entity formation and governance. You do not need three campaigns. Two or three subject lines tested against the three tags will tell you which framing lands.
You can browse each segment directly: business law, corporate law, and commercial law.
